Mother Mary is the epitome of Holiness and she has attained the holiness more than anyone else on earth. If we were to enumerate all the goodness in the world we can find them in Mother Mary. The Lord filled her with all the goodness in the world honoring her humility and her desire to do the will of God. Her brave decision to follow the will of God even in the face of trials and tribulations resulted in her receiving the blessing from the Lord.
In Luke 1:39 we see Mary who was in a great hurry to serve her cousin Elizabeth who was with a child in her woumb. We also see in John 2:4-5 how at the insistence of Mary Jesus performs his first miracle at the wedding in Canna and turns the water into wine even though it was not His time to be known. Both these instances show that Mary was always in a haste to help the needy and serve the humanity. The fact that one day her son would be crucified and a sword would pierce her own heart did not stop her from helping people. She ensured to help the needy without wasting time or waiting for the opportune moment to help.
She continues to intercede for us even today and when we approach her with a prayer she hastens to help us without a moments delay. St John Marie Vianney goes on to quote saying, “Only after the Last Judgment will Mary get any rest; from now until then, she is much too busy with her children.”
Mary is considered blessed among all and this is not based on the fact that she is the mother of God or the fact that she is the Queen of Heaven but it is because she believed in the Lord. Luke 1:45 says, “Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” we too can be blessed if we too believe and are ready to do the will of God like Mary did. Like Abraham who went on to do everything that was asked of him without questioning the Lord even when he was asked to sacrifice his son. Abraham was blessed for his faith and he is made the father of a multitude of nations. Genesis 17:4-5 Mary became the Queen of Heaven and Earth, mother of God and our way to heaven.
Mary urges each one of us to trust and walk as per the will of God and go on to become blessed like her. Let us emulate Mary in her decision to follow the word of God even at times of trials and temptations without questioning God and like she hastened to help Elizabeth let us also hasten to help the needy and be called, ‘Blessed’.
