St John teaches us that God is love (1 John 4:8). The Lord created the world and all creatures with just one command but when he created man he tells himself, let’s make man in our image and our likeness. (Genesis 1:26). We see the Lord walking with his creation in the Garden of Eden. The Lord does not hold back his love even when the man slipped into a state of sin. He showers his mercy by promising him a savior. The Lord showers his love not only his first creation but on all of us. When we examine every aspect of our lives we can see this love.
The Holy Bible teaches us that God’s love is profound. He loves us so much that he gave us the breath of life (Genesis 2:7). The Lord gave us the form (Isaiah 44: 2). He blessed us with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3). He loves us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. It is new every morning (Lamentations 3: 22-23). For in this hope we are saved (Rom 8: 14). We know that for those who love God all things work together for good (Rom 8:28). Therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, declares the Lord (Jeremiah 31:20). For the Lord disciplines the one he loves and chastises every son whom he receives (Hebrews 12:6). But in love you have delivered my life from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back (Isaiah 38:17).
The only way we can love the Lord is to accepting everything He gives us and rejecting what the world has to offer. In this new year let us make an effort to get to know this Love of our Lord and share it with our brothers.
