Pious thoughts on Pentecost

Pentecost is the holyday in which Holy Spirit came down on the disciples and made them powerful to preach the crucified and risen Christ to the peoples and nations.

When creator started creating creatures, there is reference about the creative power of Holy Spirit. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters” (Genesis 1:1-2). Earth got its shape and colour as Holy Spirit hovered over it. If we need to shape and colour the earth of our life, we have to leave our lives for the hovering of Holy Spirit.

When the creation was over by the hovering of the Holy Spirit, the creator looked at the creatures and said God saw all that is made and said “It was very good” (Genesis1:31). If God and His people should say the same words looking at our lives, we have to cooperate with the hovering of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit, who transforms even our sighs into prayers, came down to the Sehion where Holy Mary and disciples sat together to pray. The power of the Holy Spirit comes to the homes where the family members sit together to pray. If the parents and children sit together in the place of apostles and Holy Mary and recite the Holy Rosary, our homes will be converted into Sehions of Holy Spirit’s residence. If Holy Spirit resides in our residence, Spirit of Unity will tie the members of the family with the strings of love.

When the apostles were filled with Holy Spirit, they began to speak in a single language and the people from different nations heard it in their own language. It is because the people who are filled with the Holy Spirit have only one language- The Language of Love. It is a language that everyone understands. So let us be filled with Holy Spirit and speak the language of love which our parents, life partner and children understand.

If God’s will is to be fulfilled in our lives, we have to cooperate with Holy Spirit like Mary, our mother. To spread the Gospel of love and happiness in our society, houses and work places, we have to lend our ears to the voice of consciousness as our Mother did.

It is the Fire of the Holy Spirit that melted the fearfulness of the disciples. The fire of Holy Spirit extinguishes the fear and worries of our life. To face the roughness of life, let us get filled with the power of the Spirit.
